Attending to business of art this month. Educational.

today's quick and easy project. quick and easy due to lots of help.
I know this story is true, from first-hand experience. My sense of smell is about 2/3 destroyed from using Zicam nasal swabs several times, a few years ago. It may have shortened my colds, but at the cost of the destruction of much of my enjoyment of life.
Glad to read the FDA is FINALLY doing something about it.

Anyone looking for a cool, beautifully restored, century-old house to rent at the Jersey Shore?
$1800 a month. 2,200 sq ft including a finished attic and basement, fully wired for phone, cable and internet, original hardwood floors (maple downstairs, pine up), original doors and hardware. Original wood and beveled-glass pocket door between living and dining rooms. Remodeled kitchen, new cabinets. New 1/2 bath where pantry used to be. Spacious front porch, back deck. One block to Main street shops and restaurants, two blocks to Bradley Beach commuter train station. 1 hour 40 min to NYC. Pets considered.

Asbestos shingles from the 1950s were removed earlier this year, the house is now brown (original cedar shingles). According to the contractor, the original shingles were in remarkably good condition.

The ocean and a great boardwalk are just five blocks east.

Portland was fun. Visited old pals from college and So CA who've moved there over the past couple decades.
Reading 'Desert Exile', an autobiography by the late Yoshiko Uchida, my new favorite writer. Discovered it in a used bookstore across from our post office yesterday. Now I'd like to read everything else she wrote. From what I gather online, she was prolific.

the tail end of Jacaranda Season
This is the 19th place I've lived, from Boston MA to Waimanalo HI, not counting places I only lived in for a few weeks or months. Long Beach CA is my favorite. My least favorite was Ellicott City MD.
